We are delighted to partner with Vera Bradley to raise funds for breast cancer research. Their plan to host Painting with a Purpose fundraising events across the United States the month of July are well underway and we look forward to a successful outcome. In 2016, Painting with a Purpose events raised almost $106,000 for breast cancer research! Vera Bradley’s co-founders began raising funds for a cure after the loss of a dear friend to the disease in 1993. As of 2016, the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer has contributed $28.1 million to the research being conducted at the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. The research program is recognized by the National Cancer Institute for meeting rigorous criteria for world-class, state-of-the-art multidisciplinary cancer research. Funding generated by the Vera Bradley Foundation has resulted in the recruitment and retention of more than 35 researchers who work together to discover how cancer grows, develop ways to block its progress and deliver new treatments to women. Knowing that cancer will not be cured in a vacuum, members of the research team are known worldwide for their collaborative approach. It’s this sharing of information, talents and resources that accelerates the pace of research. Be assured that your contribution is helping discover the causes and cures for breast cancer.
