Hi, I'm Talia, and I'll be one of your Artists. Born in Hattiesburg, MS, I'm currently 23 years old, and I literally JUST moved to Douglasville a couple months ago. My interest in art began at an early age, but what really solidified my love for it was when I reached middle school and began to draw my own manga and anime.  I recently graduated from Mississippi Valley State University w/ a degree in English Literature and a Minor in Art. While attending MVSU, I became of member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. I love to spend time with my fiancé, reading novels, doing diy projects, and painting of course. As your local Artist, I’m looking forward to seeing the look on your faces when you realize that you just created an amazing piece of art, and being a part of that journey.

Shanija

Hey! I’m Shanija aka Nija. I'm a 34-year old wife and mother of two. I take pride in letting people know that I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I’ve lived in Georgia for 7 years now. I LOVE Georgia and everything about it. Especially how family-oriented it is and it’s southern hospitality aspect. Being a New Yorker, that’s something I'm not use to. In my free time I really enjoy spending time with my family. They mean the world to me. The way I show my love to them is through their stomachs. I’m addicted to Pinterest. I get on there and find “FUN FOOD” ideas. I really enjoy cooking and trying different foods. My husband often says to me “Today I feel like eating something FUN!” Usually that’s my cue to get on Pinterest to find an exciting meal to whip up! When I’m not on “wife duty”, or hearing my kids saying “Mommy!” fifty'leven times, I find peace in being creative.  My two favorite forms of creativity are painting/doodling and doing hair. I love braiding hair and recreating different braid designs. I enjoy the challenge. Around the age of 6, I taught myself how to braid, paint and draw. I enjoyed doing these things so much that I would say, “When I grow up I want to be an Artist!” Then it went to, “When I grow up I want to be a Teacher!” Ohh And a Hairdresser. Then next thing I knew, I was grown up! I attended college for 2 years where I majored in Early Childhood Education. I worked with small children in an elementary school and I really enjoyed it. But boy was it a lot of work. My passion for teaching and being creative never went away. Look how the universe works! Now I get to do everything that I enjoy all in one.  Just remember when you come to Painting with a Twist, “Don’t be stuffy... Just be Real... Be YOU, and have FUN!”

Venus

Hey I'm Venus, and I just want to draw all day! Raised in Michigan & South Carolina I began drawing at the age of 5. Drawing 1st from my imagination to observation from books I'd read as a kid and Comics I adored to drawing houses I desired to live in. I later drew Inspiration from fashion magazines where I learned to draw gesture poses. Becoming a wife and mother of five didn't Leave me much time for drawing or my art. However, always deeply desiring to return to my art, fast forward to nearly becoming an empty nester, I found myself back sketching after receiving a sketch book and art Supplies. After immersing myself once again in many different art many media types, I was offered to teach paint parties at a friends pottery shop. I found joy in teaching those classes as it seemed to bring joy to the ladies as they learned to create fun works of art. Having no formal art training, I learned more by trying many forms of art media and drawing & painting nearly every day. I enjoy Illustrating fashion as well as home designs. Also Fine Art doing impressionistic portraits. When I'm not doing those I enjoy drawing and painting fan Art from favorite Instagrammers.
