This weekend is Small Business weekend so we thought you might want to meet our owners Chris and Mike Heatherman! Chris and Mike are high school sweethearts, born and raised in Western New York. They are diehard Buffalo Bills fans and have been married for 33 years. They are the proud parents of fraternal twin daughters. Jessica who is an accountant and Amanda who is a video game designer. Mike, by trade, is a Global Marketing and Sales Manager for ABB Inc and mainly works in the "back office" of the business doing the books. Although you will see him from time to time dancing around the studio and passing out treats! Chris is a former Middle and High School Spanish teacher with just shy of 30 years in the education field. She is the manager of the studio and you will generally see her running the kids classes, Summer Camps and acting as floor artist in the larger classes. She is also the person you are most likely to be in contact with via phone or text. They also both love to travel and have been to a wide variety of places both within the United States and without - ask one of them about their 2 years living in Ireland!
Mike and Chris joined Painting with a Twist after a fundraising party for Chris' schools baseball team. Chris dragged the family to a Painting with a Twist night in the Cleveland/Akron area and the whole family fell in love with the concept! After researching all the companies available, Painting with a Twist's back story, commitment to community and Home Office guidance and support were what guided their choice to joint the Twist team. The decision to bring it to the Myrtle Beach area was an easy one as this was the spot of many happy family vacations, their kids were out on their own and hey, who doesn't want to get away with from the snow and the cold! So in the summer of 2017 the journey began and after a few hiccups February 2018 and the Grand Opening rolled around and they were off!
It is hard to believe that it has been almost three years since they brought Painting with a Twist to the area and they love every day of it. From working with the Police and Fire Departments on their twice a year Painting with a Hero events, to their varied Painting with a Purpose or the many variety of In Studio, Off Site or Virtual (yep, rolling with the times here) classes they have offered for both children and Adults - there is never a dull moment or a regret. They love the people they meet, the friendships they form in the community and with their guests and what they have learned both about themselves and others.
So, if you are looking for a fun, warm, relaxing place where you are treated like family - come check us out!
